ALAN SCHARF

Mr Schumacher

Alan is a Brooklyn College graduate with a BA and MFA in acting and directing. He spent his early years performing in musicals such as West Side Story, Showboat, Anything Goes and Damn Yankees in summer stock. Credits include: Take her, She’s Mine (National Touring Company with Tom Ewell and Audra Lyndley), The Fantasticks (the girl’s father and the boy’s father in two separate productions). He has also performed off-Broadway in New York with such luminaries as Dustin Hoffman, Martin Sheen and the Lincoln Center production of Young Abe Lincoln as part of the Young Peoples’ Concert series with Leonard Bernstein. Film: Scavenger Hunt, Tentacles and The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes in addition to over 50 TV and radio commercials. His most recent stage accomplishments include the baggy pants comedian in Sugar Babies, Frank in Over the River and Through the Woods and Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Mr. Scharf has been on many TV shows as a singer, performing on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson, “The Steve Lawrence Show,” “The Merv Griffin Show” and many others as part of the folk-singing group “The Highwaymen,” famous for such hits as Michael, Row the Boat Ashore and Cottonfields. Mr. Sharf has recently joined forces with Roy Connors who sang with him in “The Highwaymen,” calling themselves “2 Guys.” www.2guysharmony.com
